Local Churches in Huddersfield
Being part of a church family is hugely important for Christians, to develop faith and connect with Christians of all ages, not just students. The CU is not a church, nor a replacment for it, so it's important to find a church to get involved with.
We are blessed to have so many great churches of varying traditions and denominations in Huddersfield. We know that it can be very challenging to decide which church is best suited to you, and remember, many of us have gone through it in different ways in the past few years.
Take a look at the Churches below to see how they differ on paper, and feel free to contact us via email or instagram with any further questions.
We run a 'Church Search' in the first few weeks of term to help you get started on your journey to find the right church for you.

Holy Trinity Huddersfield
Holy Trinity is an Anglican (Church of England) church on the western side of Huddersfield, approx. 1 mile from the University. Our vision is to be “rooted in Jesus, a devoted family, sent in love and power”, and our priorities are to enable everyone to encounter Jesus in the power of the Spirit, grow in their own spiritual formation, and be equipped to live radically and passionately for Jesus in their daily lives.
We have loved having students with us over the years and would love to welcome you. Do come along and check us out. We have our own Student and Young Adults group which includes food and a chance to go deeper together in our discipleship.
We have two services on a Sunday, and students have come along to both of these. Our 9.00am service is more traditional, with worship led by an organ, and Holy Communion every week. Our 10.45am service is more informal, with worship led by a band, and kids and youth groups. We also have Delve (an occasional worship night), Alpha Course, and also events for men (pub, curry, bible study) and women (breakfasts).
You are so welcome to come and join us. Feel free to take things at your own pace, and there are lots of ways that you can get more involved, especially serving in tech, worship, kids and youth.
We’d love to meet you!

Hope Church Huddersfield
Hope Church is a new church in town, as we only really began here in 2011. We are Reformed, and Baptist, but don’t worry if those are foreign words to you.
We believe that the Bible is fully reliable, that Jesus Christ is alive today and can be known, and we know that we have a message which is as serious as it is exciting for our Town and University.
We sing a mix of contemporary songs as well as older hymns, led by our musicians. We believe that when the Bible is proclaimed to us, we encounter the Living God.
For that reason, we’re eager to welcome not just Christians, but anyone else who wants to discover what Christianity is. We are very excited about supporting and having students as part of the body that is Hope Church. Should you choose to join us, we are keen to have you involved and serve the church and its local community as you grow in love for the Lord Jesus.

There are more churches in Huddersfield than the ones above, however, the churches above support the Huddersfield Christian Union and many of the CU members go to these churches.
If you would like to try a church not listed above, go for it! New connections are always very welcome. If you are nervous about stepping into a new church by yourself, a member of the CU would be more than happy to go with you.
